Gibraltar is located 80 kilometers east of Marbella. A British territory located on the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula at the strait of Gibraltar. Among the sights seen such Gibraltar Museum and the beautiful stalactite cave St. Michaels cave. The monkeys, macaques, which live on the Rock of Gibraltar has become known. Seville is the capital of Andalusia and one of the largest Spanish cities with over 700,000 inhabitants. The town is located 2.5 hours drive from Marbella and keeps some of the most outstanding Spanish monuments and sights.
The picturesque Barrio Santa Cruz is well worth a visit. This area is the heart of Seville, with its narrow streets, white houses, flowers and iron bars; it is the typical Andalusian Barrio.
Seville’s Plaza de Espana is undoubtedly one of the city’s main attractions. This large and beautiful squares were built for the Iberoamerican exhibition 1929, and now it remains so incredibly open space opposite the Maria Luisa Park. The square is decorated with ceramic tiles, fountains, bridges and baroque arcades. All along the square’s benches representing each of the Spanish provinces.
Torre del Oro (tower of gold) is at one of the banks of the river Guadalquivir, opposite the Maestranza, the famous bullring in Seville. Built in the 13th century by the Arabs, the tower is currently a navy museum
6o kilometers north of Marbella is the beautiful village of Ronda, surrounded by lush valleys. The village is famous worldwide for its dramatic cliffs and prospects and the bridge over the Rio Guadalevín.
Puente Nuevo Ronda is the most emblematic monuments of the famous city of Ronda.
Baños Arabes – The Arab baths in Ronda are the best preserved in Spain. They were built in the late 13th century under King Abomelik. The huge cauldron used to heat the water is still visible and in good condition. The star-shaped vents in the roof modeled after the roof of the more famous bathhouse at the Alhambra in Granada.
The bath is located in the old Arab quarter of the city, known as San Miguel Quarter. Address – Calle Molino de Alarcon.
Plaza Duquesa de Parcent Ronda’s most picturesque squares and one that is brimming with monuments. Santa Maria del Mayor church is the highlight, a church that took over 200 years to build and is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance styles. Other squares recommended is the Plaza del Socorro, the square in front Almocabar Gate and around Calle Nuevo.
A small authentic Spanish whitewashed village which forms the entrance to the Natural Park of the Sierra de las Nieves from the Costa del Sol. Mountains and nature with its oaks, cork oaks, Mediterranean pines, agaves and cacti, growing literally right just around the corner, while the beach is only ten minutes away. Ojen is a separate municipality and adjacent to Mijas, Marbella, Istan, Monda and Coín. Most distinctive is probably the most spectacular views of the Mediterranean.
